Putting not a foot wrong ...
I was privileged enough to test the new Volkswagen T Cross which is powered by a 1.0 litre TSI engine paired with with a 7-speed DSG. The model didn’t have an R line package so the styling was basic but I won’t let that take away from the fact that this little car is well designed and probably one of, if not the best, car in its category.
I am a huge fan of this car and I am not making this decision based on the fact that it’s a VW. I am making this statement because I believe there is currently no better value for money out there. This car may change the way car manufacturers think about pricing.
In a bold move VW is offering features such as their touchscreen media, virtual cockpit, wireless charging and reverse camera as a standard feature.
The build quality of this car is also out of this world, the suspension is really solid and when you drive the T Cross you don’t hear any noise coming from anywhere it shouldn’t.
This car reminds me why VW is often referred to as the people’s car: they set out to make the customer’s journey as memorable and easy as possible and this move proves it.
I recently played salesmen to my sister-in-law who owns an aging 2005 VW Polo Comfortline, I advocated as to why she should buy the T Cross as a replacement to her car. Now obviously the new Polo would seem to be the perfect replacement for her car but since VW released the T Cross I think car buyers will be split on which of these two cars to invest in.
For me personally I would choose the T Cross because I honestly had so much fun driving it in and around Johannesburg.
