WPT EVENT: EMPERORS PALACE HOSTS 15TH VERSION OF POPULAR POKER EVENT

With prize pools exceeding a massive R10 million, the biggest poker tournament in Africa, the World Poker Tour DeepStacks “King of the Stacks”, will return to Emperors Palace for its 15th series.

Taking place from tomorrow to November 23 in the Theatre of

Marcellus, the tournament will give local poker enthusiast­s the opportunit­y to compete on an internatio­nal scale.

“The WPT leads innovation in the sport of poker on the African continent, and the November tournament will be no different as 12 WPT poker champions will be crowned,” says Bob Yearham, Peermont COO for gaming.

“Winning the WPT title is the ultimate profession­al and recreation­al achievemen­t attainable in South African poker and we will undoubtedl­y make a few more millionair­es at The Palace of Dreams.

This year’s event includes a semifreeze where players can buy-in for R5 500 to receive 75 000 chips tomorrow.

The Super High Roller event on Sunday is a VIP experience with a R75 000 buy-in, while the High Roller Supa Stack on November 20 is a R33 000 buy-in.

Finally, the popular Main Event will take place on November 22, with a R12 000 buy-in and a cool R3 million up for grabs.

The tournament attracts a field of over 2 000 entries locally and internatio­nally and is the only local series where prize pools exceed the R21 million mark in a single series.

Satellites run daily in the Emperors Palace Gladiators Poker Room, where players can win a spot into the official tournament­s.
