Myeni’s fading star

-

A source close to former Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates winger Sifiso Myeni (below) is worried that the dribbling wizard will end up as one of many former stars who had it all but ended with nothing. Myeni hasn’t been with a team since leaving SuperSport United two years ago. The winger hasn’t been able to find a team since then and has been playing amateur football while training with a couple of teams in the ABC Motsepe League. “It’s unbelievable how things can quickly turn around for the worst for one, I mean this guy was living large a couple of years ago and right now it is slowly fading away. He can’t find a team. You will find him playing in townships playing amateur football. I’m afraid that if he doesn’t manage to make a plan soon everyone will forget him. All the money that he has made in the past will also go away and become one of those players who had it but ended up with nothing,” said the source.

SSU may want Mahlatsi back

SuperSport United are said to be considering recalling their in-form attacker Kamohelo Mahlatsi (above) from the University of Pretoria who ply their trade in the GladAfrica Championship. Mahlatsi is enjoying a great run of form with the Pretoria-based outfit, who are fourth in the second division standings. Mahlatsi has banged in a couple of goals and he is Tuks’ go-to man this season. “The plan was to make sure that he grows as a player and gets some minutes under his belt. That is why Kaitano Tembo loaned him to Ubuntu Cape Town last season and now to Tuks but it seems he wants him back.”

Winning favour with Chippa boss

Norman Mapeza (above) may just break records and become the first coach to stay long at Chippa United, Phakaaathi has heard. A source at Chippa has revealed that Mapeza has hit it up with club boss Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi and they seem to have a rare understanding. “He is the first coach to have such a relationship with the boss. They seem to get along and agree on a lot of things. I don’t know how but he seems to have made an impression on Chippa and augers well for his stay,” said the source. Chippa are known to be very eager to fire coaches and have already got rid of two this season alone.

Sirino wants to stay in Mzansi

Mamelodi Sundowns are entertaining the possibility of Gaston Sirino (above) playing for Bafana Bafana if the South African Football Association and coach Molefi Ntseki decide to naturalise the Uruguay-born attacking midfielder. Sirino has not turned out for the Uruguayan national team. “He has not played for his country and we have him here in the PSL. We can see his talent and we all know what he is capable of. If he can be sold the idea, he might buy into it and the club will help in whatever way possible” said a source close to Sundowns.
