Hain should bring crooked UK firms to book

-

If Lord Hain knew about Zuma’s part in state capture, why did he not say so, asks John Pretorius.

What information can Lord Peter Hain give to the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture? Has he any proof of the corruption of the former president? If so, why didn’t he submit that to the commission beforehand instead of arriving here now?

And who is paying for his flight ticket, accommodation, etcetera, while he in this country? Is it us, the citizens of this country, or is it England as he is here to come and tell the commission what we should do to prevent money flowing out of the country illegally?

Should he not go back to his country and try to bring to book those companies that were involved in the arms deal in the UK, instead of telling us how to prevent money laundering?

Was he subpoenaed by the commission because he has all the proof that companies in his country were involved in illegal activities in South Africa where large sums of money were paid as bribes to numerous high-ranking people in government? We know Schabir Shaik was one of the people involved in corruption.

Has any company in the United Kingdom been charged with any corruption?

Surely the commission has so much information at their disposal which could be given to the National Prosecuting Authority to enable them to prosecute the perpetrators and that can be tested in a court of law.

The term of reference to have this inquiry has already passed and they have asked for an extension. Spending millions of rands on something that will not bring it to a conclusion is surely a waste of money which could have been spent on building proper schools and houses for the poor.
