Punters like Dispicable

- Ken Nicol

Today’s meeting has been moved from Hollywoodbets Scottsville to the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack due to rain.

And with the change of surface Dispicable in Race 7 now appeals as the top bet.

This Tony Rivalland-trained four-year-old gelding has only ever appeared on this surface, winning two of three races in impressive style.

He was far too good for subsequent winner Mokoko a few weeks ago, and from the pole position draw is going to take a ton of beating once again.

Gavin van Zyl looks set to provide the main opposition.

Opensea proved something of a revelation last time when dropped back to this course and distance and adopting front running tactics. He could challenge.

Stable mate Horoscope Harry has won his last two runs in fine style, both over this trip, but has never raced on the Polytrack before.

Nevertheless, this three-yearold looks well treated with a current merit rating of 85. Strong evidence backing that up is that there have already been four subsequent winners out of his last victory, which took place only a month and a half ago.

As per usual Anton Marcus is highly likely to find the winner’s box, with his best chance appearing to be Dark Moon Down in Race 4, a fillies’ Maiden Plate over 1600m.

Paul Lafferty’s Ideal World three-year-old has placed in all four her outings and was just touched off last time before a three-month break.

The switch of surface makes her a less confident selection than before, as she has only previously appeared on turf.

She is also drawn widest of the 10 remaining runners, but while no star should still prove a little too strong for her rivals here.
