I cannot believe that at a time as difficult as this, Nersa gives Eskom the go-ahead to raise electricity tariffs to recoup lost revenue. Have any of those responsible for the looting and theft of millions of rands from Eskom ever been brought to justice? No money has been recovered, so now the cashstrapped taxpayers have to foot the bill. How despicable this government has become! Craig, Vereeniging

In the apartheid era, your local cafe had to stop selling certain items from noon on a Saturday to Monday morning. Tough if you ran out of toilet paper, soap or tampons. The government told you what you needed. Nice to see the ANC adopting old National party policies.

Do you think it could be possible to get our very confused Mr Patel to give us a detailed, scientific or medical reason for the limitations placed on the types of clothing we may purchase or is he favoring certain clothing manufacturers?

Oh wow. Sisulu, are we to applaud the sudden suspension of corrupt officials, after 20 years of reports and corrupt activities in every institution in the country, when the biggest culprits are still walking free, with the attitude of “you can’t touch me”? Ginny Morkel

Dear President Ramaphosa, no more waiting. Please lift the lockdown immediately or you will become known as the president who caused more damage to the economy in 10 weeks than your predecessor did in 10 years!

Frustrated citizen

The government ministers keep telling us to stay safe at home. We are flat broke, not earning anything, but they are getting salaries and eating well. They just don’t care.

Bheki Cele, what happens to all the cigarettes and alcohol being confiscated?

DStv, you’re boring us with your pathetic movies. Sunday’s was a prime example.

Covid-19 is a storm, but while some of us are in rowing boats, others are on cruise ships. Desperate Dan

Mr Mashaba is honest about illegal immigrants and I will vote for him in the next local elections.

Enough

I totally agree with the excellent article written by Eric Naki in Friday’s The Citizen – “Corruption not hunger will get the masses to rise up”. Sensible, articulate and to the point. Carol Gaynham
