Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker Bongani Ndulula remains positive about finding a new club soon.

It was back in 2016, when the striker parted ways with Amakhosi, that things turned sour for Ndulula.

The goal-poacher was reported to have signed with Chippa United following his Naturena exit, but nothing materialised.

“It’s all up to God and I believe that when he has given you the talent, he gives it to you so that you are able to use it,” the striker told Phakaaathi.

“If it weren’t for the lockdown I’m sure something would have came up by now, but I’m hopeful that next season, with the power of God I will be back on the pitch again.”

Born and raised in Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape, Ndulula, who also had a spell with Bafana Bafana, looks back at his rise to becoming a professional footballer and said that school sport played a major role in making his dream of playing football become a reality.

“It was really tough because there weren’t many opportunities out there for us. Again, at that point, I wasn’t really thinking about playing professionally. But everything changed when I was selected to be in a squad to go overseas after a school tournament,” he said.

“One of the players I remember who was in that team was Mandla Masango. Everything just changed from that point. After playing for an amateur local club, I then joined Black Rovers.

“At that time the club was playing in the third division,” he continued.

“I think another thing that helped me was because my uncle Simon Ndulula played for Bloemfontein Celtic, I ended up playing for the club. Plus it was the closest professional team to where I come from...just about two hours drive from Aliwal North.

“And that’s how it all started for me.”

The 30-year-old Ndulula started his top-flight career at Celtic before going on the represent both the Soweto giants as well as Durban-based AmaZulu.
