Golf is back at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club in Secunda after a break of nearly three months. With improved health and safety precautions and a change in some of the mechanics, the game can be played and enjoyed on the spectacular Gary Playerdesigned course.
“We are excited to open our golf course and understand that peace of mind for our guests remains paramount during these unprecedented times,” said Pieter de Villiers, general manager at the resort.
“We have enforced a multilayered health and safety approach and have fully briefed and educated our employees on best hygiene practices to make our guests’ experience as enjoyable as possible.”
Extra measures include temperature screening and record keeping of both players and employees, frequent sanitising and cleaning of golf carts and public areas, wiping commonly touched surfaces and the availability of hand sanitisers.
The 18-hole links championship golf course, with undulating greens, features a mixture of elevation changes, water hazards, rolling fairways and a strategically placed bunkers.
An upgraded irrigation system has allowed the fairways and teeboxes to be in mint condition and the greens have been hollow tined to maintain the rhythm of play on the course.
The cart paths have been upgraded, with the practice and chipping areas being rebuilt to tournament standards.
Two streams wind through seven of the holes and several dams attract a variety of bird life, making for an incredible golfing experience.
