Tembo is happy with his stock

SuperSport United do not have the appetite to venture near the Premier Soccer League transfer window, insisting they have enough players at their disposal.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori head coach Kaitano Tembo is satisfied with the current group of players and says he will only go into the market if he is forced to.

United have been largely carried by Thamsanqa Gabuza, Sipho Mbule and Bradley Grobler up front, while the defensive group of Grant Kekana, Siaybonga Nhlapho, Teboho Mokoena and rookies like Luke Fluers and Keenan Phillips have been making sure Ronwen Williams concedes fewer goals.

“We are quite happy at the moment unless there is really something that happens to our team, like injuries or other things. I think we are trying to build on what we have and give opportunities to everyone as well as making sure that our spine is very strong and we are happy that we are scoring goals,” said Tembo.

“We see Teboho and Sipho growing every game as well as Luke Fluers, this is the first time he has played four games in a row. I can see an improvement and growth from him and I am looking forward to seeing more growth from him this season,” he added.

Right now, SuperSport are in a rich vein of form that sees them sitting third behind joint leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Swallows FC.

Tembo, however, is downplaying The Spartans’ chances in the DStv Premiership title race.

“We have only played 11 games and there are still 19 games to go but all we can do is put ourselves in a good position to be able to fight for the league, that is all we can say for now. There is still a lot of football to be played and we are just taking it one game at a time. In the past seasons we were always close up until the end, we have always had an opportunity to win it but we just lacked consistency, which is what we are trying to work on this season.”
