COLOURFUL JEWELLERY: A COLLECTION THAT GETS HEADS TURNING

- Thami Kwazi

A form of art that requires placing together objects that give off air of emotion.

Jewelry design is more creative than just putting shiny trinkets together resulting in something beautiful. It’s a form of art that requires placing together objects that give off an air of emotion while still looking trendy and beautiful.

Reflecting the designer’s vision, 2021 is about hope and colour. VP creative director Alessandro Filippo Ficarelli, from Pandora, gives tips on creating a collection that gets heads turning but suits the current season trend of colour in jewellery. Q . What words best describe the mood of the new collection?

Joy, colour, connection and self-expression. Q .

How do this season’s designs reflect the New Year, as it is usually a time of change for most people?

A: The New Year is a time of reflection on the previous year and anticipation of the year to come – a time of reinvention, evolution and fresh starts.

We want this collection to be a reminder of the joy we can always find inside ourselves, regardless of what’s happening on the outside. We hope these designs will inspire strength as we look to the future and set positive intentions for 2021.

Q . There’s a striking theme of colour play throughout the new collection. Tell us more.

The power of colour is incredible, with its rich history, deep symbolism and fascinating science and psychology. We were inspired by the interaction between light and colour, as well as the way these

are depicted in modern art. With the new pieces, we want to take our consumers on a journey through the colour wheel, allowing them to experiment, explore, and be empowered by a full spectrum that’s as beautifully vibrant and diverse as they are. As the world becomes more fluid and colours take on different meanings, making colourful jewellery a perfect vehicle for self-expression and storytelling. Q . How would you style this season’s pieces?

We love the idea of combining lots of colourful designs to represent an inclusive, diverse spectrum of all different kinds of people and ideas.

We suggest stacking the delicate Colourful Solitaire Rings together to create a beautiful multidimensional effect.

Those, along with the Colourful Solitaire Huggie Hoop Earrings, have a simplicity that allows them to be styled in an elegant, minimalist way – or combined with charms, clips and bracelets in various metals and hues for a more playful, maximalist vibe.

No matter how you style the new designs, we hope people will be inspired to start a conversation and tell their own unique story through colour, whether it’s starting with a single bright pop or feeling confident wearing lots of pieces in a rainbow of hues.
