THEY SAID IT...

"I'm a fighter first and foremost, it's how I managed to make a career out of the game as a player. So when I packed up I could have easily stayed in the media or left football completely, I didn't need to come back in. I love the job, and I love the fact that if there are tough times you can fight your way out of it. And I'm not just talking about me, I'm talking about the players now because at the minute we know we're not firing. Coming through a tough time, it's the best feeling in football, it's the best feeling you can possibly have. And it would make this talented squad."

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard’s thoughts the day before he was sacked by club owner Roman Abramovich, who obviously didn’t see things the same way as the man who played a key role in so many of Chelsea’s triumphs.

“Our final ball let us down, especially in the first half, we had some great chances. They had two great chances in the second half. Overall we had the better opportunities, but our final ball let us down. It wasn’t a great performance, but it was a battling game. We tried to be brave. We opened up a little bit. Fortune always favours the brave, but we could have lost it too. We didn’t defend great today, but we’re moving up.”

Gavin Hunt after his Kaizer Chiefs side drew in Stellenbosch at the weekend.

"It's fantastic to win games against last year's champions. They are a fantastic team and we have had good results over the past couple of years playing different systems, but today we played well and won on our terms. We have found a way that we and the players believe in and we are getting stronger and stronger. Our mentality to come back from 1-0 down, we have shown it so many times this season.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday.
