Magnesium is a mineral that helps many functions in the body, such as energy creation, protein formation, nervous system regulation, better sleep, bowel movement and even detoxification.

If you are wondering how the magnesium treatment gets through your skin, its pretty simple through a pedicure or manicure.

Having the lucky opportunity to do the magnesium Placecol manicure, the treatment has four stages using magnesium products to maximise the absorption of the mineral. The manicure is 45 minutes long while the pedicure is an hour long.

Beautician MamThembi is kind, bubbly and soft with her hands as she places warm water in a bowl. Magnesium salt is added to the water for you to soak your hands in.

The hands are then dried with magnesium cream, combined with Placecol magnesium salt and used as an exfoliator. The therapeutic salt absorbs through the skin for optimal functioning to relax, relieve muscle pain and melts into the magnesium cream and does not need to be removed.

The magnesium cream is then used to massage hands and arms to start the absorption process and get the extensive health benefits of magnesium.

At the end of the treatment, a small amount of oil is applied, then the finishing touch of nail polish. Personally, after the magnesium manicure there was a sense of ease and great satisfaction about the look and feel. And I did have a good sleep and was quite regular the next morning.
