Bid to improve quality of life of abandoned animals
The new Radisson RED Hotel Johannesburg Rosebank is hosting a pet adoption day today at 10am in collaboration with Gauteng-based Woodrock Animal Rescue.
South Africa has many animals in need of loving and stable homes. The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA reported that in December 2021 alone, their branch had 197 dogs and cats surrendered to them.
Adoption statistics weren’t high that month either, leaving many pets without permanent homes. In a bid to improve the quality of life of abandoned pets, and provide them with loving homes, pet adoption days have become a successful activity by animal rescue centres.
In celebration of the launch of Radisson RED Hotel Johannesburg Rosebank’s pet friendly programme, where guests can bring their pets along for stays at the hotel, they have collaborated with Woodrock Animal Rescue to host a pet adoption day.
Woodrock Animal Rescue has been active for over 36 years, and to date have helped to rehabilitate and rehome thousands of pets.
People who attend the adoption day at the hotel today will have the opportunity to play with the pets up for adoption, and are encouraged to share their experience and spread the word on social media.
“One of our core pillars as a business is to play an active role in the upliftment of our surrounding communities, and we couldn’t think of a better partnership to show our support to animals in need,” says Carly de Jong, curator at Radisson RED Hotel Johannesburg Rosebank.
“As a pet friendly hotel in Rosebank, we believe that this goes hand-in-hand with our values, and we look forward to showing continuous support to Woodrock Animal Rescue and similar initiatives.”
Guests attending the pet adoption day can look forward to the following:
Interaction with the Woodrock Animal Rescue team and the pets up for adoption; Education around pet adoption and how to make a difference;
Discounted coffee, and complimentary puppuccinos for furry friends;
Delicious bites on sale for animals; and,
A photographer to capture the day.
“We are elated to have the opportunity to host a pet adoption day at the Radisson RED in Rosebank,” says Stella Meldau, founder of the Woodrock Animal Rescue.
“All our puppies at Woodrock Animal Rescue come from dire situations, and were rescued from certain deaths, or had lives with neglect and abuse.”
