Snaith raiders look hot

- Jack Milner

There are three minor features on the turf at Fairview today and Justin Snaith will be sending three runners to contest two of the events.

His first runner is Cosmic Event and he lines up in Race 5, The Lakeside Handicap (Non-Black Type) over 2400m.

This four-year-old Querari gelding has not raced over the distance but has won over 2000m. He did come to contest the East Cape Derby last year. Unfortunately for him the race was moved to the Polytrack which did not suit him, and he finished unplaced.

He should improve back on the turf this time with Craig Zackey in the irons.

However, he will face a strong challenge from the local runners, in particular Bournemouth and Gallic Tribe.

The Non-Black Type Fairview Mile (Race 6) is another decent race by Eastern Cape standards and Snaith sends out two runners in the form of Sachdev and Light Speed and both need to be included in all bets.

With Zackey picking up the ride on Sachdev that could well be the stable elect but Robert Khathi should do well on Light Speed. However, it would be wise to include runners like Port Louis and Perfection

The third Non-Black Type event is Race 7, the Fairview Merchants over 1200m and Zackey could be looking for a feature-race treble as he is aboard Khaya’s Hope for Gavin Smith.

In his penultimate win Khaya's Hope, under Zackey, was super impressive when beating rival in this and stable companion Cruise Control by 2.50 lengths.

There is a 4kg swing in favour of Khaya's Hope and that should make it very tough for Cruise Control. Bigger dangers could be Slim Jannie and Prince Of Fire.
