Nel can give Plattner two celebrations

- Nicci Garner

Owner Sabine Plattner could pop the corks on two bottles of champagne at Kenilworth tomorrow when her homebreds Viking Voyage and Cuduiari can get their heads in front in Races 6 and 8.

Viking Voyage is a five-year-old who has only run five times after being off the track for more than a year following his debut.

Trainer Andre Nel brought the gelding back over 1000m at Kenilworth in April fairly near his peak and Viking Voyage ran a 1.90-length third behind Storm Clipper.

He went on to run fourth behind Our Mate Art in a strong Maiden Plate before getting off the mark with a last-gasp and narrow win over Seattle Light (won next time) over 1200m at Fairview.

He looked a trifle unlucky in his first race against winners because he stumbled and still managed to finish a 0.50-length second to Ice Style (placed next time) over the Durbanville 1300m.

Back at his winning distance, he looks set to fight out the finish again.

Debut winner Cape Quarter and Show Stealer could be his biggest dangers.

Like Viking Voyage, Cuduiari will be ridden by Aldo Domeyer. He has placed in his last two of four career starts, most recently finishing a 1.25-length second to Mr Lover Boy over 1900m at Kenilworth.

Although not well drawn, he could go one better in this Maiden Plate over 1800m.
