President has learned nothing from the Nene debacle, writes

from Bryanston

Jean Michel

Here we go again. Once more our President, who cares only about himself, drops the ball onto the Hawks court to do his bidding by harassing our Finance Minister (and I truly hope that’s where it’s going to stop, and no further steps taken ) and packs his bags and disappears for two weeks on overseas engagements, only one day after it was made public that a summons was sent to Gordhan from the Hawks to present himself to them. Coincidence? And here we thought that the matter had been put to bed in May, after they were harassing Gordhan about the February Budget.

Does the President realise the world is watching and hasn’t he learned anything from the Nene debacle? It appears not. But if the Hawks go ahead and charge or arrest Gordhan, after he declined their “invitation”, it will be obvious that there is a state capture policy and the government finances and the national treasury will be taken over by other entities for nefarious purposes.

But by the time the President returns, the country will be in so much trouble, with the Rand and the economy taking such a knock, that the consequences of this move will tip SA over the precipice with our rating being downgraded to junk.

The one thing that was to our advantage was the independence of our government finances and the fact that Gordhan was held in such high esteem.
