White snatches victory in hotly contested SuperGP race

- – Circuit racing correspondent

Close racing and a new winner typified Saturday’s SuperGP championship racing at the Aldo Scribante circuit in Port Elizabeth.

The opening SuperGP race saw Mathew Scholtz (ETR Nashua Yamaha R1) winning from Clint Seller (Neolife Yamaha R1), Greg Gildenhuys (Transport.co.za Kawasaki ZX10R) and Michael White (Consortium Shipping Yamaha R1).

In race two, White got a flyer when the lights went out and grabbed the hole shot.

Seller and Gildenhuys tried everything to get past, but White was able to hold them off.

The trio crossed the line separated by a little over a quarter of a second, with Seller having to settle for second ahead of Gildenhuys and Scholtz.

Lance Isaacs (LIR Motorrad BMW S1000RR) continued his winning ways in the SuperMas- ters Interprovincial championship, taking both heat wins in the class.

In both races, he was followed by Damion Purificati (Amalgam Welding Kawasaki) and Hendrik de Bruin (RSA Yamaha R1).

Championship leader Adolf Boshoff (Neolife Yamaha R6) and Hayden Jonas (PJ1 Formula Autos Kawasaki ZX6) got tangled up.

This led to them crashing out of the first Super 600 race.

That allowed Kewyn Snyman (Inex Construction Kawasaki ZX6) to win from Blaze Baker (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR 600) and Dylan Barnard (Kawasaki ZX6).

Jonas and Boshoff both made it for the start of the second race, although Boshoff had to start from pit lane as he was on his spare bike.

This time, Baker took the lead from the start and was never seriously challenged on his way to his first Super600 win.

Boshoff worked his way through the field to take second ahead of Jonas.

Dominic Doyle (Techron Systems) won both the SuperJunior races from CJ Hackart (Firequip/ Elite Car Park).

The next round of the SuperGP Championship will take place at Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone on Saturday, September 24.
