Be Easy To Please in Kimberley

- Nicci Garner

Easy To Please got an overdue second career win on record in a 1000m Pinnacle race at Flamingo Park last month and, holding form well, could capitalise again on a light weight in Race 8 over 1200m at that track today.

Easy To Please is trained by Fairview-based Duncan McKenzie’s Kimberley assistant Jarett Rugg. The five-year-old only managed fourth in his first run in 2016 but then got a dose of “seconditis” - he finished in the runner-up spot four times in a row, including going down 1.30 lengths to Count Siskin (1.5kg worse off) over 1200m at this course in his third-last start.

Then came a 5.50-length fifth behind Seattle Sunset over that course and distance in June. He had Pigeon Flyer and Speed Lightning ahead of him day but is better than that and made amends last time out with a good win over Cannes and re-opposing One Cool Cat in a Pinnacle race over this course and distance.

He is obviously no “good thing” - in fact not one of the horses in this race can be confidently ruled out. However, that win would have given him back his confidence and he could turn the tables on Pigeon Flyer and Speed Lightning.

Devon Gold has a big weight but has good form over this trip and could finish in the money, while five-year-old mare Dukes Idol scored an easy win over this course and distance last time out when Caribbean Bay (1kg better off) was beaten 5.50 lengths.
