A new chapter in the Datsun legend story is being written, as Datsun launches a limited edition, high-spec version of the Datsun GO Lux.

This follows the successful reintroduction of the Datsun brand to South Africa in 2014, with the launch of the GO, which has since become a leading seller in the competitive A-segment of the market.

The new GO REMIX, with special accessories, is a modern model that will add new excitement to the range. This addition will now see the GO available locally in the base GO Mid, GO Lux and REMIX versions. Prices vary from R104 900 to R159 900 across the range, says Des Fenner, the general manager of Datsun South Africa.

“The major appeal of the Datsun GO REMIX lies in the fact that there will be only 200 units sold locally. For Datsun enthusiasts, this means the opportunity to own a rare vehicle, specifically crafted for ‘risers’, young trend-setters in the 18-to-30 age group, looking for ways to stand out from the crowd,” Fenner says.

“Making the car more desirable is its price, making it possible for this category of motorists to buy a stylish brand new car. The REMIX forms part of an exciting line-up of three new cars launched by Datsun in South Africa since October 2014, and will add youthful appeal and distinctive looks to our success story.

“Attractive pricing and value have always been major factors in the GO’s success. We are proud that the Datsun tradition will be continued in this regard.”

The other two offerings introduced by Datsun last month are the GO+ multi-purpose vehicle and the GO+ Panel Van, a new entrant into the light commercial vehicle market.

As for the GO REMIX, where similarly equipped A-segment vehicles from other manufacturers are generally priced at around R165 000 to up to R184 000, this limited edition offering will retail at a recommended price of R159 900, making it one of the keenest priced, high-spec A-segment vehicles available.

“The sales history of the Datsun GO indicates that it appeals equally to female and male buyers,” Fenner says.

“We expect that this trend will continue, as young motorists look to purchasing the REMIX which, besides offering the trendy styling and value for money that has characterised the Datsun GO, now offers them the opportunity of driving a distinctive model that will be a rare sight on South Africa’s roads.”
