Ramsden looks at Guineas double

- Nicci Garner

Trainer Joey Ramsden has the World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas in the bag already, with Just Sensual winning for the team last weekend, and is hoping to double up in the Grand Parade Cape Guineas a fortnight later.

He will saddle Table Bay, winner of four of his seven starts and currently the joint highest-rated runner on the list of entries for the Grade 1 event with Always In Charge. Ramsden said: “I think he’s very good.

“I’d ignore his last run (when third behind Gold Standard and Edict Of Nantes in the Selangor Cup) because they went very fast and he chased the pace, which was possibly not the right thing to do.

“I like my horse very much and he has a nice draw, which is a big plus, but to say 10 days out that he can win it would be brash.”

Supplementary entries will be taken today and the final field is due to be published tomorrow.

As for Just Sensual, she won a good race from Safe Harbour, coming from far back from a wide draw to mow them down and hold on for a narrow verdict.

“She had a hard run but took the race very well,” said Ramsden. “She’ll probably do the Klawervlei Majorca Stakes on Met Day next or a sales race.

“Although there seems no point in going 1800m now she was finishing rather than stopping, and that may give us options in the future.”
