Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt says he knows what to expect when they play Egyptian club AlAhly in the first round of the Caf Champions League next month, but he won’t be thinking about it too much yet.

The Clever Boys set up a meeting with the Egyptian giants following a 3-1 victory over Reunion’s Saint Louisienne in the second leg played at Bidvest Stadium last Saturday, going through 4-3 on aggregate having lost 2-1 in the first leg.

“We will get worried about it when we get there, there are still a lot of games we have to play before that one. I think it is very important for us to see how we are going to use our players. It is a big stage for us, I have been there before with SuperSport United. So I know how it is there. They have a beautiful pitch and everything is good that side,” said the Wits coach.

“We played well in Reunion, but we lost. They got one chance tonight and they scored. I don’t think of the next game too much in terms of what’s coming. I try to win this game first.”

With the current depth in the Wits squad, Hunt made plenty of changes in the team which saw Eleazar Rodgers, Ben Motshwari and Xola Mlambo in the starting XI.

“The squad is better this year, it is much stronger. You can change Cuthbert Malatjila, Rodgers and Daine Kate (above).”

The Wits coach went on to praise youngster Reeve Frosler who came on as a second-half substitute.

“Last year we had to play five academy boys in the team and one academy boy came on tonight and I think he was excellent.”
