Kjell wary of humble Bees

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret has expressed his desire to do well in the Nedbank Cup when they face ABC Motsepe League side EC Bees FC at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium tomorrow.

But the Swedish coach is worried about coming up against a side he doesn’t know at all and is expecting a difficult encounter against the Eastern Cape side.

“For me, the cup has always been important, I think I have won cups seven or more times as a player and a coach. Because it is the easiest way to get up there, if you are lucky with the draw, you will have to win against three teams who are in the lower leagues,” said Jonevret (above).

“But at the same time, I know how it is with games that everybody expects you to win. I hate them because they will fight like never before. You don’t really know what to expect. Even if we have control over them it is going to be tough.”

Ahead of the game, the Pirates mentor indicated that he might give some of his players a break. However, with the team desperate for a win after 12 matches in all competitions without a victory, the Buccaneers coach has promised to bring on the best squad.

“There might be some players who are probably not fit enough to play because they played two tough games. So, we will change some faces, but it won’t be a completely new team.

“The cup could be our chance this season, so we should take this one and go with the best team possible,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bees have been in fine form in the third tier. They have won 15 of their last 21 games, placing them second on 50 points.
