Brothers, Gaultieri battle it out in inland championsh­ip

The second round of the 2017 Inland Championsh­ip took place at the Red Star Raceway near Delmas on Saturday.

Heading up the programme were two races for Bridgeston­e BMW Car Club series contenders.

Dino Fameliaris (E36 M3 Turbo) took the first victory from Julian Fameliaris (E36 328i Turbo) and Lorenzo Gaultieri (E36 328i Turbo).

Using the second race’s inverted grid to his advantage, Gaultieri took his maiden overall win ahead of Desmond Bloem (E36 M3 Turbo) and Fameliaris.

Paulo Loureiro (E36 M3 GTS) took both the Class B victories.

The Inex Legends brigade produced three close races with action all the way. The first heat saw Anro Stadler take the win ahead of Willie Erasmus and Charl Roux.

Stadler repeat the feat in race two with Richard Upton and Roux finishing second and third, respective­ly.

Heat three saw Stadler take the triple crown with Upton in another second place, this time ahead of Jordan Larsson.

The opening Midvaal Historics race went to series newcomer Andre de Lange (VW Jetta MK 1), leading home Rene Janse van Rensburg (Ford Escort MK2) and Deon van Vuuren (Ford Escort).

Brendan Parker (Datsun GX Coupe) won race two ahead of Janse van Rensburg and van Vuuren.

Both the Yokohama Modified Production Car races went to Jeff Langeveldt (Honda CRX), while the Silvercup honours went to Evert Seyffert (Chev Can Am) and Daniel Luwes (Honda Ballade) respective­ly.

Cameron O’Connor (Formula Ford Zetec) won both the Formula Monoposto races from Karl Pitzer (Formula FordZetec) and Louis van der Merwe (Formula GTI).
