Where’s That Tiger on sale

- Jack Milner

The first South African-bred progeny of Where’s That Tiger will go on sale at the TBA Cape Yearling Sale at the Mistico Equestrian Centre in Paarl this weekend.

Where’s That Tiger, by champion sire Storm Cat out of Blissful who is a full sister to Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus, raced in the UK, Ireland and UAE and then retired to stud in Australia.

He hails from the same family as US classic winners Orb (Kentucky Derby), Pine Bluff (Preakness Stakes), as well as the ill-fated US legend Ruffian.

The Australian crop has produced seven individual winners, among them feature race winners Tiger’s Touch and Supertube, and Samurai Blade, who placed in all three legs of the Triple Crown last year behind Abashiri.

Where’s That Tiger was bought by Bernard Kantor and Larry Nestadt in 2014 and is currently standing at The Alchemy in Robertson.

“The first two go on sale on Thursday at Mistico,” said The Alchemy’s Phillip Kahan, “while another group will be on sale at the CTS Sale this weekend.

“I think Where’s That Tiger is a very exciting sire. He is a very balanced a really nice personality, which is unusual for Storm Cat’s progeny. The babies are stunning, very well put together and I think people will be blown away when they see them.”

Lot 36 at Mistico is a filly out of Necochea (USA), by Roy, and is a half-sister to Ferdinand The Bull who is by Toreador. Lot 73 is a colt out of Tripple Dart, by Trippi.

Tripple Dart has only had one previous foal, Tribal Force, by Antonius Pius who is trained by Corne Spies and won on debut. His second outing was in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes on Saturday in which he ran unplaced behind Barrack Street.
