No surprise Durban lost Games

One should not be surprised that we lost the Durban Commonwealth Games. The whole episode speaks of the incompetence of our sports ministry.

In fact, Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula, pictured, is representative of a government that can’t run the country. Almost every department has people at the top who are not qualified and are incapable of doing a proper job.

Millions of rands are squandered or stolen – monies that could be spent on essential services, like the housing backlog.

It all boils down to a president who has surrounded himself with his pals, with no concern for their qualifications. Until they are all removed from office, the fiasco will continue.
