Stormers prepare to unleash Senatla

- Rudolph Jacobs

You could almost forgive Stormers Super Rugby coach Robbie Fleck for rubbing his hands in anticipation this week ahead of unleashing Sevens star Seabelo Senatla (left) in Singapore today.

Senatla will enjoy his first start on the left-wing against the Sunwolves, but Fleck said one should also not expect fireworks from the word go.

“If we do our job correctly, create space for him, and give him good opportunities, we will see the special Seabelo,” Fleck said.

The Stormers however have embarked on a journey this year to create space for their inside backs which could bring Senatla into the picture.

“When he has got ball in hand and he has got a bit of space he will be devastating,” Fleck said.

The unbeaten Stormers resume their campaign after enjoying a bye last week following three straight wins over the Bulls, Jaguares and Kings.

They have left some star players at home in the form of Springbok locks Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Steph du Toit in line with the agreement with Saru about managing the top national players.

They have also rested fullback SP Marais who has been in great form, allowing Dillyn Leyds to start at fullback, and there’s also a new lock combination in JD Schickerling and last year’s Currie Cup skipper Chris van Zyl.
