AS Tanda a closed book to Johnson

Cavin Johnson admits he is battling to get information about Ivorian side AS Tanda, Platinum Stars’ opponents in a two-legged play-off for the group stages of the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup.

“We don’t know who they are (Tanda) we don’t know how they play. There isn’t much about them on the internet; we can’t watch their matches on television. There was one line about them on Wikipedia. Ivory Coast have good players with a good physique. We need to prepare for what we don’t know,” said a chuckling Johnson.

Before playing AS Tanda on the weekend of April 6-8, Stars travel to Bidvest Wits on Saturday in the Absa Premiership and then on April 4 they take on Baroka FC away from home in the Nedbank Cup last-16.

Wits also face a hectic schedule as they face Stars on Saturday and then take on Jomo Cosmos on April 4 in the Nedbank Cup, before challenging Smouha of Egypt at Bidvest Stadium the following weekend in their Caf Confederation Cup play-off. The Clever Boys have dropped into the Caf Confederation Cup after losing their Caf Champions League qualifier to Cairo giants Al-Ahly. Smouha are from the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.

SuperSport are the other SA team left in the Caf Confederation Cup – Stuart Baxter’s side will play Baroka FC away from home in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, and then take on Kwa-Dukuza United in the Nedbank Cup before travelling to Liberia to take on Barrack Young Controllers.

In the Caf Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns will hear on April 26 who their opponents are, when the draw is conducted in Cairo.
