Quick-fire salvo shocks Jonevret

STARS HIT BUCS THREE TIMES IN FIRST HALF

-

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret says he was surprised with his team’s display following their 3-2 loss to a struggling Free State Stars which marked his first defeat at the James Motlatsi Stadium last Saturday.

Pirates conceded three goals in the opening 45 minutes of the match, which saw the Bethlehem side earn a vital victory to get out of the second bottom spot.

Stars climbed to 13th with 22 points, while Pirates are 11th with 23 points.

“I am surprised, we have been conceding only one goal since I arrived and the defence has been okay and we continue to work with it. But I was very surprised in the first half, it’s okay to lose games with a 1-0 score, but to concede three goals really surprised me, I don’t believe it,” the Pirates coach told SuperSport after the game.

“They (Stars) were good, but first two to three minutes I was happy, but then they went on to score and if you look at the replay it was a crazy goal. But I respect Free State Stars and I hope our players are ashamed of this. We will be back here next Saturday and hopefully we can get a positive result.”

Ea Lla Koto coach Serame Letsoaka, meanwhile, was delighted with the win and says his players have been working very hard in the last two weeks.

“The boys put in a lot of hard work. The first half could have been better, but I’m happy with the three points, it doesn’t matter how it came,” said Letsoaka.
