SA’s Fed Cup team relegated

South Africa were relegated to the bottom tier of the Fed Cup on Saturday, falling 2- 0 to Egypt in the play-offs in Lithuania.

Having lost all three group ties earlier in the week, the national women’s tennis squad again failed to win a match in their last fi xture at the Euro-Africa Group 2 tournament.

Mai el Kamash beat Ilze Hattingh 7-5 1-6 6-2 and Sandra Samir defeated Chanel Simmonds 6-3 7-6(5).

They will now compete in Group 3. – Wesley Botton
