Motorsport spectacle waits
EXTREME FESTIVAL MOVES TO RED STAR RACEWAY THIS SATURDAY Full day of high octane action on two and four wheels on offer.
The 2017 Extreme Festival will travel to Delmas this Saturday, to offer patrons at the Red Star Raceway a full day of motorsport spectacle on four and two wheels.
Heading up the show will be two races for Comsol VW Challenge cars, with 30 cars set to face the starter.
Front runners should include Wayne Masters (Performance Masters Polo), Stiaan Kriel (Spanjaard Polo), Waldie Meintjes (Ultron Polo), Wayne Crous (Delway Polo), Gavin Ross (Norbrake Polo) and André de Lange (Roofsure Polo).
In the midfield, top contenders in Classes B and C must be Philip Croeser (ATE Polo), Lindsay Clur (Mirage Leisure Polo), Wouter Roos (Strata Drilling Polo) and Leon Odendaal (Lesavert Polo).
The autObarn Superhatch races will see victory favourites like Brett Garland (autObarn Honda Civic), Mel Spurr (Wealth Avenue VW Polo), Alex Marques (Ace Auto Polo), Nic Martin (Rex Diff Opel Kadett) and Ishmael Baloyi (TAR Honda Civic) take to the tarmac.
The races for 111 Sports and Saloon Cars will offer a wide variety, led by people like Gerhard Henning (Toyota Parts VW Polo), Rory Eland (Dialigic Polo Classic), Lucas Bezuidenhout (Pretoria North Toyota Lexus IS200), Louis Cloete (apc-online.co.za VW Beetle), Ian Ehlers (FEC Polo) and Andy Gossman (VW Golf 1).
Some of the day’s closest racing should be produced by the Formula Vee category, with podium chasers to include Greg Wilson (Reflex Solutions Forza), Peter Hills (Lube Fusion Rhema), Gert van den Berg (BP Nantes Rhema II), Lendl Jansen (Bull Security Rhema II) and Brandon Hills (Lube Fusion Rhema).
Topping the two-wheeler activities will be two races for the Red Square Kawasaki Masters brigade, with probable podium finishers Sven Grune (Kawasaki ZX10R), Gareth Bezuidenhout (Kawasaki ZX10R), André van Vollenstee (Stunt SA ZX10R), Appana Ganapathy (ART Kawasaki), Henk Shilling (Air Systems ZX10R), Sanjiv Singh (Double Apex ZX10R) and Johan le Roux (Avidan ZX10R).
The Bridgestone Thunderbikes and Sub-10 Superbikes
Racing will commence at 10am, with qualifying sessions earlier in the morning.
Admission will cost R50 per adult, with kids under the age of 12 to go in for free.
Food and drink will be on sale or you may take your own. will be combined, with riders to watch Gavin Upton (Motion Perfect Yamaha R1), Shaun Vermaak (Fourways Motorcycles Kawasaki), Riaan Fourie (Fourways Motorcycles Kawasaki), Byron Rothquel (Mag Magic BMW S1000RR), Coen Erasmus (E Engineering Suzuki CSXR) and Peter Grobler (Van Breda Kawasaki).
Rounding out the day will be the Bridgestone Challenge races for the brunch run riders.
Front runners should be people like Conrad Clark (Idube Projects Kawasaki), Johan Nortje (Fourways Motorcycles Kawasaki), Rupert Fourie (Silverton Bolt Honda) and Kyle Tavares (Frost Biketech Honda).
