All Africans should strive for continental unity

s Africans, we should stay together like a pride of lions so we can achieve socio-economic prospects. Africa as a continent used to be united and not marked with border lines. Before the colonial forces came to Africa to break our continent apart, Africans used to visit one another without any hindrances.

But today, Africans jeer and sneer at one another as if they had never been one united nation before.

Our hostility is fuelled by xenophobia and Afrophobia where an African fears another African without a valid reason.

The spirit of unity must be planted among us in order to produce the fruit of sustainable peace in Africa.

Some African countries were severely torn apart by ethnic factions and civil wars due to leadership ambitions.

Some African political leaders want to sit permanently on the presidential seat and this eventually gives birth to civil wars and unnecessary bloodshed.

Africa is rich in its diverse cultural and traditional values and, as Africans, we must accept one another in our diversity.

We should hang on Africa like colourful lights on a Christmas tree and enhance the beauty of our beloved continent.

When a lion sees a herd of zebras, it sees one big striped animal and fears to attack it. When united as Africans, we become one big force that cannot easily be defeated socio-economically.
