How did Maine get league’s top job?

-

The ANC Youth League is regarded as a training ground for future leaders. It has produced a good crop of individuals who later became influential leaders. For instance, it produced the likes of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

That said, can you imagine youth league leader Collen Maine, pictured, as the future finance minister?

Anything is possible in politics. However, Maine’s future doesn’t look bright in politics so it will take a miracle for him to be a Cabinet minister.

The youth league leader can’t even make a political statement.

He’s also not a leading light and lacks substance. In addition, he has no vision or programme to improve the lives of the struggling youth in our country.

Every time he opens his mouth, he speaks out of turn. A few days ago, when he appeared on Justice Malala’s television programme, he was a disaster.

He’s also trying hard to imitate the former youth league leader, Julius Malema. And he’s doing a bad job.

The pertinent question is: how did Maine become the leader of such a powerful youth organisation?

He emerged from nowhere and claimed the top position of the youth league.

You don’t need a masters degree to see that he has been placed there for the Guptas.

He was strategically put there to serve the interests of the Gupta family and he’s doing a damn good job at that.

The youth deserve better.
