The Citizen (KZN)

This is what Busisiwe is doing ...

-

The Citizen’s headline, “What is Busi doing?” surely requires an explanation. Of course Absa should repay the money used to bailout Bankorp in the ’80s, if it hasn’t done so.

But Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, pictured, has overlooked the law relating to prescription of debts in SA.

Government’s claim has prescribed and is unenforceable against Absa because of the time lapse. But Mkhwebane’s knowledge of finance and economics is also lacking.

Her recommendation that the Reserve Bank’s constitutional mandate be changed from protecting the value of the rand to a focus on the protection of “citizens socioeconomic well-being” is nothing short of an attempt at economic self-destruction.

With an unfettered Reserve Bank, the rand will be ravaged by devaluation and inflation. The poor will suffer the most.

But what is more disturbing, is the incompetence of those appointed to positions of leadership and to run entities.

Most are untrained, incapable and blockheads.

For instance, SAA is beyond insolvent. In fact, the entity is trading in insolvent circumstances, which is an offence in terms of the laws of insolvency.

The real problem with the ANC and government, is that they don’t know that they don’t know.

Unless something radical is done by government about its lack of perspicacity, our country is doomed.
