Truck driver shoots ‘hijackers’

A man was killed and four others were injured in an apparent hijacking on the N4 at Woestalleen, Middelburg, ER24 paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said five suspects attempted to hijack a delivery vehicle when the driver shot at the men, killing one and injuring four.

Van Huyssteen said one suspect was declared dead at the scene. “The driver sustained no injuries.”

The other four suspects are still at large. – ANA
