JZ not repeating Mbeki’s mistake

-

The ANC will choose between a buffalo-loving capitalist and a divorcee-doctor for party president come December. The Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, pictured, campaign machine is leagues ahead of the CR (Cyril Ramaphosa) camp thanks to President Zuma’s ingenuity. Zuma is no novice when it comes to garnering support (votes) in the ANC’s structures.

I often wondered why President Mbeki lost the 2007 elective conference. I could not find a plausible answer at the time, but a reason for Mbeki’s defeat presented itself in Justice Malala’s hard-hitting book We have now begun our descent.

Malala writes that “Mbeki should have started a succession process a long time before [the 2007 elective conference]”.

Zuma has refused to make the mistake Mbeki did.

At this juncture it seems likely that Dlamini-Zuma will become the ANC’s first female president.

With Zuma's protégée in the hot seat, it will only be a matter of time before the MK deserter, Kebby Maphatsoe, and Bathabile Dlamini – who’s proven that she’s not user friendly where governance is concerned – are rewarded for their support. Just saying.
