SA is taking taxi industry for a ride

-

The taxi industry has always been under scrutiny because they are not regulated, the manner in which they drive (continually breaking the law) and the many unroadworthy taxis out there.

On top of this, there seems to be a mafia type mentality that rules the roost. But I do feel the banks and the motor industry are taking them for a ride, making it virtually impossible for them to make a profit, and this is the reason why they are always in a hurry and break the laws. It is all about quick turnaround times.

Regulate the industry, discount the Quantum and instruct the banks to stop robbing them blind with unrealistic interest rates.

With all this in place, these taxis can proceed in an orderly fashion within the laws of the road, in so doing bring down their insurance premiums (less accidents). This is the cheapest form of transport for the working class and is an absolute necessity. Africa without the big white taxi is just not Africa.

Garry,

opportunity, taken out of context, fire pool, charter, legotla/conference/indaba. And the most bandied-about word which does not tally with millions of South Africans’ meaning: democracy...

The ANC fold are told whom to nominate and vote for in all their political structures and for all of their lives!
