- Motorcycle Racing Correspondent

Round six of this year’s DEOD SuperGP Championship took place at the Dezzi Raceway on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Saturday, producing mixed results in the two main contested classes.

Clint Seller (MiWay Yamaha R1) continued his winning ways in the opening SuperGP race, followed over the finish line by Greg Gildenhuys (Autohaus Towing KawasakiZX10R), AJ Venter (Hygenica Yamaha R1), David McFadden (Sandton Auto BMW S1000RR), Michael White (Consortium Shipping Yamaha R1) and Lance Isaacs (Supabets BMW S1000RR).

Seller made an uncharacteristic mistake and fell in race two.

That left Gildenhuys to win, leading home Venter, White, McFadden, a recovered Seller and Isaac. Jade Gutzeit (Dunlop Dezzi Ducati) used his local knowledge to full advantage, taking two easy wins in the SuperMasters.

In both races, he was followed by Johnny Krieger (Hygenica Yamaha R1), Heinrich Rheeder (BMW Motorad S1000RR) and Beau Levey (Motos Blu Cru Yamaha R1) .

Super600 championship leader Hayden Jonas (MiWay Yamaha R6) had a major crash during qualifying, and was barred from any further participation on medical grounds.

Blaze Baker (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR600) won the opening race from Steven Odendaal (Petra Yamaha R6) and Malcolm Rudman (Montclair Motorcycles Kawasaki ZX6).

Odendaal won the next time round, leading home Baker and William Friend (Uncle Andy Su- zuki GSXR600).

Tyreece Robert (Uncle Andy KTM390) won the first SuperJunior race from Taric van der Merwe (Evolve Nutrition KTM390) and Ricardo Otto (Inex Construction KTM390).

Robert’s bike broke on the warm-up lap for the second race, leaving Van der Merwe to win ahead of Otto and Kewyn Snyman (Inex Construction KTM390).

The penultimate round of the 2017 DEOD SuperGP Championship will take place at the Phakisa Freeway outside Welkom on Saturday, August 26.
