ATS realigns its Mickey Thompson business unit

-

For more than 35 years, Auto- motive Technology Specialists has supplied a broad range of slick, semi-slick and treaded competition tyres, servicing virtually every category of local motorsport. When talking race tyres, they are the acknowledged experts.

This product range includes Mickey Thompson drag tyres, the choice of quarter-mile champions like Gavin Wilken, Duppie du Plessis and Quentin Boylan, who dominate their respective classes on M/T rubber. To continue this success, they have restructured their broader Mickey Thompson business from July 2017, including ending their involvement in the 4x4 recreational tyre market.

This will enable them to give their full attention to servicing what has grown to be a diverse and extensive offering for not only “pukka” dragsters and drag bikes, but also street cars of many types. This latter category will enjoy increased performance on the popular ET Street S/S and ET Street R tyres.

However, fans of Mickey Thompson (and the related Dick Cepek brand) will no doubt be pleased to know that they will continue to import the highly regarded M/T and DC rims, targeting the discerning 4x4 owner who demands a precision-engineered wheel with an appropriate load rating for heavy-duty usage.

This means rims with timeless style like the legendary DC Torque and M/T Classis Baja Lock can still be ordered through a dealer network comprising serious 4x4 shops, or directly from ATS.

They will also continue to import and distribute other Mickey Thompson speciality products, including the famously fat Sportsman, a long-time favourite of the hot rod community.
