Rise and Shine bid to surprise

Polokwane City coach Bernard Molekwa (above) is adamant that his team can spring a few surprises this season following on their impressive run last season.

Molekwa will begin his tenure as full-time coach in the MTN8 against Cape Town City at Cape Town Stadium this afternoon.

The 40-year-old mentor was given the job on a full time basis in June following the departure of Luc Eymael and he said he had learnt from all the coaches he had worked with previously.

“I have learnt from all the different coaches I have worked with. I have had the luxury to choose what is good from all of them and use it. I am lucky that it has worked well for us so far,” said Molekwa.

“I want to grow as a coach. I believe I am up for this challenge. The goal is to grow and also help Polokwane City grow as well.”

Molekwa will guide his side against City tomorrow hoping for a win as he seeks to secure the team’s first title in the top flight.

“I won’t talk about winning it for now,” he said of the MTN8. “It goes by steps – one game at a time. We face City first and that is the challenge as we need to make sure we go through to the next round.

“The focus should be on the game we play and not worry about the next as yet. We are well prepared for this game.

“It is important for us to do well.”
