Chairman’s ultimatum

-

Orlando Pirates’ senior players were read the riot act at the weekend by club chairman Irvin Khoza and told that if they did not pull their weight they would be released, according to sources. “Senior players were warned that if they didn’t up their game they would be shown the door,” said the source. He also said the club are to announce which players would be released later this week. “They will be discussing which players will be loaned out or sold today (yesterday) or tomorrow. But the main concern is the issue of Ayanda Gcaba. There is uncertainty over whether he will stay or leave. Gcaba is Screamer’s (Tshabalala) favourite. But what I know is that he was considered surplus to requirements but we don’t know what is going to happen.”

Nyauza could quit Pirates

A source close to Orlando Pirates defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza (above) has told that the defender has been considering leaving the club, but only if the right offer came his way. Nyauza has not been able to cement his place in the Pirates first XI in the last couple of seasons and believes that there won’t be any change to that situation this season. “It is difficult for him because he is a player who just wants to play but he knows it won’t be easy for him to break into the team. The new coach is already looking at bringing some new defenders to the club, so that clearly tells you he does not trust the ones who are already in the team,” said the source.
