MOTHER AND DAUGHTER ARE TO BE SOLD TO TRAFFICKERS How far will you go to protect the ones you love?

- Kgosi Modisane

When faced with death, mother and daughter tag team Linda and Emily Middleton, played by Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer, find themselves having to rely on each other for survival on a tropical island in South America in the movie Snatched.

While dealing with a breakup, Emily finds herself coming to terms with the fact that her booming social life is only as popular as the images she posts on Instagram and Facebook and that when it’s crunch time her “friends” turn down an opportunity to go on an all-expenses paid getaway.

This forces the not-so-cool kid to return her mother’s annoying phone calls, as well as ask her mother to accompany her on this vacation.

With a typical love-hate mother-daughter relationship, Linda and Emily often beg to differ on what a vacation should be and soon come into contact with former retired FBI agents Ruth and Burb, played by Wanda Sykes and Joan Cusack, who warn them about the dangers of the exotic island.

This falls on deaf ears as Emily is determined to prove to ex-boyfriend and followers that she can have just as much fun alone.

Soon after arriving at the hotel, Emily heads out to meet the locals and is smitten by the villain, James, (Tom Bateman) who pretends to be attracted to her and agrees to show her around the island in the hope of gaining her trust and affection.

Emily is lured by James’ dashingly exotic features and oceanblue eyes and can’t wait to get her mother roped in to make a trip to the village where drama and tragedy will soon unfold.

Before long the pair realise they have been kidnapped and are to be sold to a human trafficking syndicate. Mother Linda leaps into survival mode while her naïve and love-struck daughter is confident her hunk will find them and prove to be the knight in shining armour.

Throughout the film, catchy puns and innuendos create a comedic mood paired with an all-star cast.

Premiering at a whopping $59.1 million at the box office in the US, Snatched is definitely a movie to watch with your girls after a sad break-up or even on date night before snuggling up with your other half.

Director Jonathan Levine has outdone himself and the action shots are just as exhilarating as in any action movie, yet the comedic element ties in perfectly.
