Aesthetic Elements Spa hits all the right spots

-

Located on the 10th floor of the Sandton Radisson Blu hotel is an oasis of peace and tranquillity called the Aesthetic Elements Spa.

From the opening of the door, guests can expect to be flushed of feelings of stress and anxiety as the dedicated staff welcome you with smiles that light up the reception area.

Using a natural colour scheme of grey and greens, as well as high, tinted glass windows that allow for natural light, creates an outdoor look and feel.

The two-story spa has six treatment rooms which include two that are dedicated to couples, a salt room that helps to detoxify impurities from the body, a heated pool, sonar room and steam room.

Having had one of the most stressful weeks of my life, receiving an invite to spend a Monday afternoon at the spa was just what the doctor ordered.

As part of my treatment package, I was pampered with a Full Body Exfoliation (FBE) wrap which uses a honey, oats and milk scrub which is ideal for dry winter dry skin.

It is very hydrating and moisturising to the body. The scrub is massaged over the body to remove the dry skin and is then showered off. This prepares the skin to absorb the nourishing oils during the massage, leaving you with soft, smooth skin.

Following the body exfoliation wrap was the Elemis Classic Facial, a deep cleansing and rebalancing facial for all skin types.

It includes a rehydrating facial cleanse and rebalancing tone followed by a gentle rose petal exfoliation to remove dry skin.

A soothing facial massage relaxes the facial muscles, improving the suppleness of the skin. An exotic cream moisturising mask is then applied to nourish and moisturize the skin, followed by hydrating and balancing moisturiser which leaves the skin with a natural and luminous glow.

After all that, it was time to get rid of all the knots and tension with a Swedish massage – a hands-on technique that uses a warm, alkaline oil to manipulate the soft tissue.

It reduces joint stiffness, muscle tension and pain.

This massage not only combats tired muscles but it is also used for relaxation, stimulation and rehabilitation of the muscles.
