Don’t judge a book by its cover

-

Grace Mugabe, pictured, might be very pretty but that does not necessarily mean that she is a good person.

After all, physical beauty is just skin deep. Not even a supermodel has a pretty liver.

Inner beauty is much better and does not fade with age.

The Dalai Lama advised against marrying for looks. Will you still love your spouse when the looks fade and only her inner essence remains?

For those with the means, plastic surgery might help for a while but are we really attracted to that which is plastic?

We are often attracted to celebrities and Hollywood stars, not for their integrity but because of their external appearances and acting abilities.

It is all an act. Most of them lack the wisdom and goodwill to hold a marriage together or to raise happy children.

There is a Jewish saying which suggests that a handsome person might be nice to look at but it is better to live with someone who is wise.

Africans say it is best to marry someone who is kind-hearted.

Photos of Angelina Jolie remind me of an anorexic. This is not attractive. Skinny models are not good examples to follow and are unrealistic as few woman are able to emulate them.

On a spiritual level, how we look on the outside is irrelevant. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

There are spiritual giants such as Mandela, The Dalai Lama and Mother Theresa who are better role models.
