The Springboks will have to up their game for Saturday’s clash against the All Blacks. They are surely missing Ruan Combrinck, who could replace Courtnall Skosan, a willing player but far too light.

Kwagga Smith would be ideal on one flank, with Siya Kolisi moving to eighthman. JeanLuc du Preez can come on later for either of the three loosies.

Andries Coetzee and Elton Jantjies, pictured, need a high-powered game – especially Jantjies, who was rather disappoint­ing.

Steven Kitshoff is a must to start in place of the Beast Mtawarira, who needs a break. I would play Franco Mostert and Eben Etzebeth, with Pieter-Steph du Toit coming on in the last 25 minutes to add impact.

And, for heaven’s sake, keep the ball in hand as long as possi- ble. Kicking haphazardl­y against the All Blacks is fatal. More vari- ety in the lineouts is also needed.
