Sheer pace the recipe for Pitso

MY BOYS WILL RUN WYDAD OFF THEIR FEET Coach keeps them all guessing over his starting line-up.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane plans to use his team’s speed to hopefully ensure his side reach the last four of the Caf Champions League for a second season running.

Mosimane figures his pacey players will be instrumental in breaching Wydad Casablanca’s “slow” defence as they face the Moroccans tonight in the second leg of their quarterfinal after edging the first leg 1-0 in Pretoria last weekend – kick-off is at 10pm SA time.

“We will give them what they got here, we will attack them with pace,” Mosimane said.

“Percy Tau is there, I hope Khama Billiat will be available, if not, I will have to play Thapelo Morena on the wing because I know that their defence is a little bit slow.

“They have to come to us because a game like this is usually half defence and half attack, but they have to do 70% attack and defend 30%. I have to do the opposite of what they do and try to manage the game.”

Despite the Masandawana camp being hampered by injuries, Mosimane is confident he will have enough personnel at his disposal tonight, and has hinted he could turn to veteran defender Anele Ngcongca if he shifts Morena forward to right wing.

“We can manage the game, we have enough Bafana Bafana players on the pitch not to be able to take this. Maybe we need some different personnel, maybe Anele, because he is better defender than Thapelo. Thapelo is just quicker and he gives us more options to go forward. When I need experience, Anele does well for me, like he did in Esperance and in Saint George. But we will see.”

Up front, Mosimane could again put his faith in Yannick Zakri, who scored the only goal in the first leg after coming off the bench.

“For this game, maybe Zakri is better suited to No 9 than Leonardo Castro, maybe he will start the game for us, we will have to wait and see. They know him very well, he played against them in the group stages last year, they respect Zakri. And now that he has scored, his confidence will go up.”
