Two men were killed and four others injured – including a threeyear-old child – when their car crashed into a tree off the N4 between Moedville and Swartruggens outside of Rustenburg, ER24 reported yesterday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon.

He said when paramedics arrived on the scene they discovered a woman and child lying outside the vehicle, while three men and a woman were found lying inside the vehicle.”

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two men, both seated in the front of the vehicle, lay trapped and showed no signs of life,”Meiring said.

“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.

“In the rear of the vehicle, a man and woman lay trapped in a critical condition, while the woman and child outside the vehicle lay in a critical condition as well.”

Rescue services freed the two from the vehicle in an operation lasting over an hour.

Once freed, paramedics treated the four patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Shortly after treatment, the critically injured man was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan helicopter to a nearby hospital. The remaining three patients were transported to hospital. – ANA
