Unwind in the scenic Sabi

WHERE THERE’S WILDLIFE TO SEE ON A WALK OR SHORT DRIVE AWAY Sabi River Sun resort will leave you with an immense appreciation for Mother Nature.

fter realising I would be driving 418.8km, meaning four hours 41 minutes to get to Sabi River Sun Resort, I wasn’t too happy. But as I always recommend road trips and witnessing the beauty that is Mzansi, I knew taking a flight would rob me of a chance to check in on social media and encourage my fellow South Africans to take a sho’t left and appreciate this country.

One needs to log off from focusing on the terrible state of South Africa and choose to experience an atmosphere of total bliss once in a while, so what better place than Sabi River Sun Resort, perfectly located in Hazyview along the banks of the Sabi River in the majestic Mpumalanga Lowveld.

While the drive didn’t feel too long, despite the excruciating heat that day, the beautiful scenery shortened the road trip and we stopped at several spots just to take in the splendour that Mpumalanga was throwing our way.

There were countless banana trees and curvy roads making for lovely pictures that would serve as a reminder of our first visit to this province.

Finally we arrived at the resort, which has a remarkable security service, with guards who walk with a confident posture I wish I could master one day. 010 492-5227

Bright green trees welcome you from the entrance and are found all over the resort.

“Thank God I paid the place a visit in spring,” I thought to myself, loving the smell of the beautiful green grass, the cool air the trees create and the sound of the water moving in the pool just a few steps from the reception area.

After the formalities of checking in were done, I had to experience the resort’s spectacular views, the rich natural heritage and abundant wildlife, which I knew would combine to create a relaxing and unforgettable stay.

But first I marvelled at the room, which was as equally attention grabbing as the nature outside, if not more.

You can tell if a place took time,
