SuperSport face test of their credentials

- Michaelson Gumede

SuperSport United will tonight play at their home-away-fromhome for the first time this season when they host Clinton Larsen’s second-placed Golden Arrows side at the Mbombela Stadium in the Absa Premiership.

This is only United’s fi ft h league match of the season, as they have fallen behind the local schedule due to their Caf Confederation Cup commitments.

Both United and Arrows are licking their wounds following exits out of the Telkom Knockout at the weekend, losing to Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates.

Goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse ( left) finally got himself some game time against Celtic – Ronwen Williams had been in goal for the previous 13 domestic matches. Pieterse had last played in the PSL against Kaizer Chiefs in April.

“I am really happy to get game time again, it has been a while since I have played and it felt good to make a contribution to the team again,” he told Phakaaathi.

“It was good for the guys who have not been playing to get a run out and try new formations and combinations. There are positives to take from the game but it was not the result we were looking for,” he added.

Abafana Bes’thende – who are just a point behind leaders Baroka FC – are the highest scoring team in the league with 14 goals. Although Arrows have not registered a single win in their last five outings, Pieterse knows it will be a tricky task against Larsen’s men.

“It is not going to be easy, Clinton Larsen and his outfit have been doing well so we have a mountain to climb.”
