Dillon looks on course for Cape double

- Jack Milner

Jockey Donovan Dillon could be set for a double at Kenilworth tomorrow when he rides Know The Ropes in Race 5 and Blow In The Box in Race 6.

Know The Ropes has been in prolific form of late and looks will be looking to notch up her fourth successive victory.

After a moderate star to her career this daughter of Sail From Seattle has made amazing strides. What has been impressive is that on paper she has not been well treated by the handicapper yet the more he raises her merit rating, the more she rises to the occasion. In fact, in her last start despite a 5kg penalty for her previous two wins, the Andre Nel-trained four-year-old was at her most impressive last time, coming away from her field to beat Glennie by 2.25 lengths. It was also the first time Dillon had ridden her.

She has been penalised a further 3kg for that win but there seems to be a lot more fuel in the tank and it appears the handicapper may not have got to her yet.

She looks better than those with exposed form but a bigger threat could come from Australian-bred Still I Rise, who could be anything. Joey Ramsden’s charge has only raced once for a head victory over Bid For Sunset. She kicked on well and got up close home. This time she races over 200m further which looks ideal. In addition, Ramsden has engaged Bernard Fayd’Herbe for the ride and that is an eye-catching booking.

Blow In The Box looks to be a decent sort who picked up some bad habits and badly needed gelding. That has now been done and he came back from a rest to run a great 0.40-length second behind Bobby Dazzler in a MR 80 Handicap over 1200m. This time he will be racing over 1600m, a distance he is looking for, and could prove very hard this time around.

His lone victory was with Dillon in the irons so it comes as no surprise that Ramsden has called for his services once again.
