Mullen can start UAE season well

Dubai - Racing makes a welcome return in Dubai with a competitive six-race card at Jebel Ali today.

Champion jockey Richard Mullen has a decent book of rides and will be hoping to start the defence of his title with a bang.

In the opening race, a 1950m handicap, he partners Carbon Dating for his main employer Satish Seemar.

This five-year-old is attractively handicapped reverting to dirt, having thrived on turf in the Emirates last winter.

He continued his progress in Europe, winning the valuable Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh before meeting Group 3 and Listed company.

This assignment represents a massive drop in class and if transferring his turf form to dirt, he clearly will take plenty of stopping.

Course-specialist Enery looks the answer in the 1600m handicap, 30 minutes later. He took the prize 12 months ago, showing a likable attitude to prevail in a tough battle.

This son of Teofilo is a consistent and reliable performer and is proven under these conditions which is always a bonus.

Champion trainer Doug Watson’s charge Unexposed Resonant makes his dirt debut while locally trained War Strike is feared despite a lengthy absence.

Satish Seemar saddles new recruit Simple Attack, a winner at Jebel Ali in February. The fouryear-old has the assistance of Pat Mullen and needs to bounce back to form after a couple of lacklustre efforts in March.
